Gleeful Nihilism - weekdaily webcomic weirdness
I hope Johnny Depp is okay

I honestly had to look at a map to make sure where Haiti was. I knew it’s general proximity though. I swear.

Updates, Ramblings, & Bloggings

If you notice some issues with the website over the weekend of January 2-3, its because I’m messing around with it. I redesigned B4B’s site a bit, to move the comic up and meld the top ad bar with the header, and I’ll probably do something similar here, so that when you first hit the page, the full comic and navigation is right there, ready for your enjoyment. I’m still working on how to do the sidebars (next to the comic, beneath near the blog, a combo thing with two sidebars…) so it’ll change a few times but it should make the site better overall.

I’ve also moved the votey ad buttons to the Support Page, where the contact info now resides. I’ll also be throwing up a PayPal donate button and will soon be offering some basic commissioned work, as well. I’ve been having fun “comicizing” pictures lately as a warm-up for drawing the comics, or as a way of killing time while sitting in front of the TV, so that will probably be my first thing. Other sorts of commissioned work will be on a person-by-person basis, though. I don’t have a ton of freetime and more importantly, I don’t use what freetime I have very efficiently… so I can’t just accept any commission people throw at me. But if you’re interested and the links/info isn’t up there yet, feel free to comment here or email me.

There have also been a few requests for prints of certain comics… so I’m looking into that as well. There’s also a mini-comic idea I’ve been kicking around and should probably work on. And with a  year’s worth of comics under my belt, I’m looking at options for a collection of the first year. If any of that sounds like something you’d throw some money at, let me know and I’ll get to workin on it. Otherwise, expect it whenever I get the time/motivation to do it on my own.

Thanks for reading, commenting, emailing, and, hell, even flaming me. Your attention fuels me like hatred fuels supervillains. Mwuahaahahaha!!!!

Those of you who check in regularly and are keen observers of changes to the site layout will notice a few things have changed recently. I updated the header, made new banners, got a bitchin background setup, and just this weekend was added to a new webcomic collective! That’s right, Gleeful Nihilism is now a part of Palace in the Sky! That skyscraper ad on the left of the site that has a “funny comics” thing under it, thats their ad. And clicking on that funny comics part at the bottom whisks you away to a place where you can browse thru some pretty funny comics… amazing isn’t it. Almost like magic.

So, why join their group you ask? Because they not only have some badass comics as a part of their collective, which I’m proud to be associated with now, but because of some extra little perks, such as:

  • a members only forum to hang out with the other comic creators,
  • some extra traffic from their gateway,
  • a chance at getting better exposure via the other comics in the group,
  • they run ad-campaigns for the group with the money their ads make,
  • and they are hitting conventions when possible and taking material about the group with them to promote, not only the group, but the comics/sites associated with it.

And having been invited to that group just after the comic’s birthday was pretty cool for me… it kinda proved that, although my unique hits and readership hasn’t shot thru the roof in this year, that the  improving art style and my weird sense of  humor have caught the attention of some fellow webcomic makers. Knowing that they think it has the potential to catch a bigger audience, and having them want to help me to do just that, is a pretty cool feeling.

Anyway, I suggest you peruse their site sometime. They have a bunch of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Humor comics, as well as some game sites and indie comic shops who are members. All my interactions with the groups members have been very positive, and I’m sure you’ll come away with the same experience.
